Although Meek Mill is currently serving time in prison for violating his probation, the rapper still made it his mission to spread holiday joy to needy families in Philadelphia.

The hometown hero’s “A DreamChaser’s Thanksgiving” went on all morning and afternoon on Wednesday, with the help of Dream Chasers Records, Roc Nation, and members of Unity in the Community organization to pass out turkeys to families in need.  An estimated 1,000 turkeys were donated to residents at four different locations throughout the city, and all of the turkeys distributed were a generous donation fully funded by Meek. A supporter at the giveaway with her mother and daughter shared with NBC 10 News, “Hopefully it’ll bring more light on his situation. He does care about his neighborhood.”

The Philly emcee’s uncle Ronald Parker also told NBC 10 News, that he’s proud of the of the impact his nephew has on his community.

“Hopefully he see’s this on TV, Happy Thanksgiving Meek. That’s all I can say, but he’ll be home soon.”

The rapper previously made an appearance at the turkey drive’s debut in 2013, where winter coats and 200 turkeys were handed out at a local middle school.
