Boston’s own Chilla Jones traveled down under to take on one of Australia’s best battlers in Vega on the country’s leading battle rap platform, Real Talk Battles. The highly entertaining, close battle in Vega’s home city has most calling it a split 2 – 1 either way with the experienced Chilla probably just edging it and was definitely a strong showing from both emcees. The match-up that has many calling it the best battle in Australia of 2017 and is a testament to Chilla Jones’ professionalism and Vega’s hard work ethic to continually develop his craft to where it is today.

After a series of quality mixtapes, the King of Schemin’ Chilla Jones has an extensive resume of classic battles now across URL, KOTD, UDubb, Don’t Flop with B. Magic, Daylyt, Arsonal, Charlie Clips, Illmaculate, Prep, Th3Saga, Danny Myers, The Saurus, Math Hoffa, Tony D, 100 Bulletz, John John Da Don, Real Deal, Conceited, Cortez, DNA, Serious Jones, Charron – the list goes on. Who could forget Chilla Jones’ now classic battle against a young JC on the sidelines of URL’s Summer Madness 2 in 2012, soon after they both graduated from the Proving Grounds, proving to be one of the best battles in recent years. Chilla Jones’ next battle is vs Krome on February 3 in Toronto on KOTD.

Vega himself has had a busy past two years, battling Detroit’s Shotti P on RT, Nunn Nunn on KOTD at World Domination 7, Aerows on Don’t Flop Oz, a close domestic title match with Gold Coast’s Eljay and recording music. The next few years seem bright for the young Queenslander as Vega continues to travel abroad with his next opponent West London’s Frankie Phraser in the UK announced on Chalked Out. Vega, along with Dunn D, Manaz Ill, Cortext and Real Talk Battles continue to represent and provide a very strong platform in Australia for battle rap that has gone from strength to strength in recent years.
