It’s no secret that Idris Elba is not just an amazing actor, but a man of many trades, and it looks like we can add ‘Selectah’ to that list. Idris is no stranger to the turn tables; known by his DJ names DJ Dris, and Big Driis. Before breaking onto the acting scene, he was heavily involved in house music. Elba has remixed for The Jungle Book soundtrack, he’s rapped on a Skepta track, and last year he released the first single off of his music project Hiatus. So it’s no surprise that he fits right in the music world.
After premiering his film Yardie as a Director at the Sundance Film Festival, Idris along with the film stars Aml Ameen, Shantol Jackson, Shelldon Shepherd, and Everaldo Cleary headed to an after party to celebrate. Idris decided to show off his skills, and that he did. He hopped on the set during the early warm portion of the party and began to take everyone down memory lane with his old school dancehall selections, Idris received a variation of ‘Bap Bap Baps and Skeew Skeews’ as the crowd rocked and cheered him on.
