Kendrick Lamar is cleaning up at the Grammy’s after winning his fifth Grammy of the night for Best Rap Album beating out Jay-Z’s 4:44, Tyler the Creator’s Flower Boy, Rapsody’s Laila’s Wisdom and MigosCulture. Kendrick picked up three wins in the pre-telecast for Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance and Best Music video for the hit single “Humble” and won Best Rap/Sung Performance for “Loyalty” featuring Rihanna.

Comedian and avid Hip-Hop fan Dave Chappelle presented the Best Rap Album award to the Compton MC, but not before giving a shout-out to his favorite rap group, A Tribe Called Quest, finishing with a Rest in Peace shout out to Phife Dawg. Chappelle also made a cameo in K. Dot’s Grammy Awards opening performance.

In accepting the award, Kendrick made sure to thank the OG’s who paved the way. He specifically mentioned his competitor Jay-Z, Nas, and Puff Daddy as his inspiration to make hip-hop music. Kendrick finished his acceptance speech saying in jest, “Jay for President.”

Kendrick’s closing joke comes after a brand new beef between the iconic mc and President Trump. Jay-Z vocalized his discrepancies with the current president in an interview on Van Jones’ new show on CNN. In the interview, Jay-Z discusses Trump’s “hurtful” remarks in regard to African countries being “shitholes” according to Trump.

“it’s looking down at a whole population of people, and it’s so misinformed, because these places have beautiful people and beautiful everything,” said Hov. “This is the leader of the free world speaking like this.”

President Trump responded to Jay-Z’s criticisms on Twitter saying, “Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policies, Black unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!”

Jay-Z as expected hasn’t responded to Trump, but Kendrick Lamar may contribute a hefty donation to the “4:44” rapper’s Super PAC if Jay does decide to make a go at President in 2020.
