Rapper DMX has found himself in some more trouble with the law. While awaiting sentencing in March for not paying $1.7 million in federal taxes, Earl Simmons was locked up on Tuesday for failing a drug test. He tested positive for cocaine, and opiates including oxycodone which is a violation of his probation stated Manhattan federal Judge Jed Rakoff. According to Judge Jed Rakoff, DMX failed to bring along a court- ordered “mobile drug counselor” when he went to St. Louis to perform on Jan. 20. “The court went to extraordinary lengths to accommodate his needs, and desires, and he in effect said, ‘screw you’.”
On July 2017, X was arrested and charged with 14 counts of tax evasion. After pleading not guilty to the charges he posted a $500,000 bail. The U.S. Attorney’s Office stated that DMX had concealed his income for several years by avoiding bank accounts and living mostly on cash and now owes the federal government about $2 million. Documents also proved that in 2011 and 2012, he made about $900,000, but listed his income as ‘unknown’.
According to TMZ, DMX’s attorney, Murray Richman said “I’m saddened and disappointed. We’ll have to deal with it accordingly.” He also added that he wi;; try to get X back into a rehab program.
