Logic’s performances of “1-800-273-8255” on television has repeatedly had a positive affect on the masses as people have called the suicide prevention hotline without realizing where the call was leading and getting support. Last April, when he first released the song the hotline reported a 50 percent increase and the same happened at the VMAs. His meaningful message has inspired many people to realize that they are not alone in their struggle and have led many towards help that they didn’t realize that they needed. The song was a massive hit, which resulted in his Grammy nomination and performance with Alessia Cara and Khalid at the Grammys.
After his Grammy performance, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline reported that they answered 3 times the typical call in a two-hour window. The NSPL also claim that the song has really brought in a great time for suicide prevention because he helped bring attention to a worldwide stage that “healing is happening everyday for people in crisis and that there is help available.”
