Outkast‘s own Big Boiwill soon hit the big screen as the class-act rapper has joined the cast of Sony’s Superfly remake.

Big Boi’s role has yet to be revealed, but it is certain he will be joining Grown-ish actor Trevor Jackson who stationed as the leading actor playing Youngblood Priest, alongside Straight Outta Compton Star Jason Mitchell, who will play Priest’s business partner Eddie.

While Sony has yet to disclose the full casting, we can only speculate at this point about Big Boi’s role. Scatter? Fat Freddie? We shall wait in keen wonder.

The original film’s soundtrack written and produced by legendary soul act Curtis Mayfield, ended up soaring in greater success than the film itself polishing the favored work of Mayfield. For the Sony remake, Hndrxx artist Future is set to both curate and produce the soundtrack, along with Joel Silver.

Big Boi earned a Best Rap Song Grammy nomination this year for his appearance on Danger Mouse‘s “Chase Me” featuring Run the Jewels and also released his third studio album last year Boomiverse which enlists a heavy set pack of features such as Snoop DoggKiller MikeKuruptJeezyEric BellingerCurren$y and more.

Superfly is a cult classic blaxploitation film released in 1972 starring Ron O’Neal as Youngblood Priest a cocaine dealer who was on a mission to escape the drug world and develop a blueprint for maintaining his lavish lifestyle while getting on right track by pursuit bound to an anti-drug craft.
