Slauson’s favorite rapper, Nipsey Hussle, is approaching the release date of his long awaited LP Victory Lap, which is set to drop on February 16. Nip has released two singles to support the album — “Rap N***as” and “The Last Time That I Checc’d” featuring fellow West Coast rapper YG.

Nipsey posted the tracklist on his instagram account asking fans what they thought of the upcoming album based on the tracklist. The 15-Track album has features from Kendrick Lamar, Cee-Lo Green, Puff Daddy, TeeFlii, Stacy Barthe, The Dream, Buddy and Marsha Ambrosius.

On the eve of the album release, Nipsey is scheduled to perform from the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. The performance will be livestreamed on Tidal for the Tidal X series, where Nipsey will perform his newest music from the Victory Lap album and more.

This album is particularly important because Nipsey’s All Money In imprint signed a partnership with Atlantic Records as part of the roll out for this project. Nipsey admits that he was taking a risk by deciding to partner up now, but with the increased value of his brand it seems like it couldn’t hurt to make this album as pivotal as possible.

This has been a deal that Nipsey has been searching for since he launched his independent label. There were rumors of a possible partnership with Rick Ross‘ Maybach Music Group, but it never panned out. The two rappers still collaborate to this day.

Nipsey’s business has been particularly interesting ever since the release of the 2013 album Crenshaw. The album was available for free on streaming services, but Nipsey also sold the album for $100 as part of his Proud 2 Pay movement for his loyal supporters. Jay-Z famously purchased a hundred copies. Hussle did the same for “Mailbox Money” except this project was sold for $1000.

The “Check Me Out” rapper has received a lot of praise for his independent business acumen. Hussle recently launched The Marathon clothing store in his neighborhood on Slauson avenue in Los Angeles.
