After months of only being available as a SoundCloud song, producer/rapper Pi’erre Bourne finally gives his song “Honey Berry” the treatment of a single. Released this past Friday (Feb. 18) Bourne extended the song by making it a 3:27-second offering. The track features what could be considered as Bourne’s signature sound; an emphasis on the off-kilter-yet-melodic chord progression, loud snares, and hi-hats that makes the production stand out. For the lyrics on “Honey Berry,” Bourne adds melodious vocals to the track. His singing style of delivery for his lyrics helps enhance the primary focus of the song, which is Bourne’s current distaste for love and affection. The South Carolina native has already made his mark in the production world, crafting beats for the likes of Big Sean, 21 Savage and of course, Playboi Carti. Judging how he balanced crafty songwriting to match his production on “Honey Berry,” it appears Bourne is ready to successfully juggle becoming both the artist and producer.
