After a six-month battle with a shifty real estate developer in Long Island City, Queens, Jonathan “MERES” Cohen and a handful of his artists comrades left Federal Court in downtown Brooklyn with $6.7 million in damages in an unprecedented win for graffiti and street artists all over the world.

5 Pointz Art Gallery, which has served as a graffiti art centerpiece for NYC over the past two decades, but was unexpectedly taken away when the owners of the building destroyed the art without notice.
