Social media giant Instagram and music streaming service Spotify team up to celebrate Black History Month and “power, resilience, and beauty inspired by our black women in our generations and generations past” with an interactive United States of #BlackGirlMagic map.
According to Instagram Music Youth & Culture spokeswoman Shavone Charles, the graphic will highlight the most-liked IG posts for top-ranked artists most frequently playlisted with the term #BlackGirlMagic by U.S Spotify users.
The United States of #BlackGirlMagic map will come with a playlist, currently live on Spotify.
Spotify has shared some content regarding #BlackGirlMagic mentions within the past year, unveiling that the U.S and England lead the conversation using the hashtag–succeeded by Canada, South Africa, France, and Nigeria, with New York, Los Angeles, and Atlanta topping the cities with the most mentions.
The ten-most streamed artists on Spotify #BlackGirlMagic playlists are SZA, Beyonce, Rihanna, Solange, Kehlani, Nicki Minaj, Janelle Monae, Alicia Keys, Lizzo, and India.Arie.
Here are the 10 streamed songs added to the #BlackGirlMagic playlist:
- Janelle Monae – “Q.U.E.E.N” (feat. Erykah Badu)
