Former UFC star Ronda Rousey had her first WWE match confirmed on Monday Night Raw this week – and it couldn’t have been in more explosive circumstances.

The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion will team with fellow Olympian Kurt Angle against Triple H and his wife Stephanie McMahon in a mixed-tag match that has been long rumored and set up over the past two weeks.

Angle, the on-screen “Monday Night Raw” general manager, announced the match for April 8 in New Orleans on the show Monday.

Rousey capped the segment with an angry Samoan Drop of McMahon, who had struck her from behind earlier. She also stepped in earlier and stopped McMahon from slapping Angle.

MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer had previously reported that WWE was hoping to team Rousey up with The Rock to take on Triple H and his wife, but ultimately went with Angle due to the fact that The Rock hasn’t had a match since 2013.

WWE is slowly bringing in Rousey. Limiting her in-ring abilities is smart for business. Let the hype continue to build and make Wrestlemania that much more of a spectacle to watch.

Wrestlemania 34 will take place on April 8th at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. Rousey is scheduled to appear on the four remaining episodes of Monday Night Raw leading up to the company’s biggest PPV of the year.
