The biggest night in Black Entertainment Television and culture was a celebration, filled with glitz, glamour and unexpected performances. One of those off-the-rip moments came from the improv king, himself: actor, comedian and musician Jamie Foxx. In between introductions and performances, Foxx fulfilled his hosting duties by inviting front-seated honorees and guests on stage. The extended invitation to one guest in particular led to a short performance.
The Grammy Award-winning singer called on Donald Glover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino) to perform a medley of his number one Billboard hit, “This Is America.” Jamie starts by singing the sample of the song’s chorus, before encouraging the crowd to join in. In-sync, Glover seamlessly sings the following part of the song to create a classic moment at this year’s BET Awards. Watch the video via Twitter below:

Gambino’s smash hit claimed the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 1oo charts upon its release early last month. The impact immediately took into effect as a result of the video’s content and messaging.
Black excellence shined brightly at the BET Awards per usual. Jamie Foxx and Donald Glover’s short performance only helped to capture an iconic night as we absorbed the decadence of black entertainment.
