Scarface has about 30 years in the game and is certainly considered a respected legend. So it’s only right that the emcee is honored with his own day in Houston.

On June 26, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Councilman Dwight Boykins declared the day Scarface Day at a ceremony that his mother attended alongside city council members and members of the NAACP.

The Deeply Rooted rapper seemed happy about his honor and took the mic to give a few words.  “You know me as Scarface, but now you get the opportunity to meet Brad Jordan,” he told those in attendance. “I’ve done a lot of music, you know. I’ve done a lot of speaking of social … words that take place in our community. That Scarface has turned into Brad Jordan. I really want to let y’all know that I’m getting ready to make a super impact in the community because that’s the most important thing to me right now.”

He added, “That’s my passion. To make sure everybody is treated equally. To make sure we get equal justice. To make sure that everybody is on the same level playing field.”

Scarface is the latest to receive love from his hometown. Trae the Truth got the key to Houston in December, and Travis Scott was gifted with the key to Missouri City, Texas in February.
