Safaree Samuels has made a number of different strides to get away from Nicki Minaj’s shadow, since their break-up. He has released a number of singles this year, took advantage of social media by leaking nude pictures of himself and is a frequent cast member of VH1’s popular Reality TV show, Love & Hip-Hop. The leaked nudes proved to be a marketing stunt to get the public’s attention. Samuels dropped the visuals for his single, “Hunnid,” a couple days after the leak. He captivated an audience and utilized the new exposure to promote his music. You can’t be mad at the hustle.
Nicki and Safaree were in a 12-year relationship before calling it quits in 2016. The “Hunnid” rapper played a vital role in Nicki’s come up in the rap game. Because of his work, he continues to receive compensation. SB recently shared a photo of a check he received for his contributions on both “Did It on Em” and “Roman’s Revenge.” Both songs are from The Barbie’s debut album, Pink Friday (2010).
The timing could not have been better. SB received a nice gift of $2.3K before his July 4 birthday. Although Samuels continues to try and escape the shadow of Young Money’s first lady, it will continue to be tough. Both the media and public will continue to label him as a result of his past relationship.
