When Donald Trump became president of the United States last year, he did not waste any time submitting his docket for reelection. While that effort shows how confident he is about serving a double term, it does not beat this one. According to the New York Daily News, the owner of a Chinese flag company revealed they are already producing Trump 2020 paraphernalia on NPR’s The Indicator. Despite Trump’s deeds on placing tariffs on various reigning from China, Mexico, Canada, and the European Union, it appears the said U.S. commander-in-chief has ruled himself out of the rule.
Located in Zhejiang province of China, Li Jiang, owner of the flag company told NPR that his employees are currently in the process of curating blue and white flags for the predestined Trump campaign. “We also make flags for Trump for 2020,” Jiang said via NPR. “It seems like he has another campaign going on in 2020. Isn’t that right?”
Also, Jiang is not worried about Trump’s trade policies hindering his business measures. He basically feels and knows that onlookers are always seeking the cheapest price so he will forever be in business.
“We are not so worried because first of all, we have a big price advantage over our competitors,” Li said. “And our clients are very smart.”
Last year, Michael Glassner the executive director of Trump’s reelection campaign committee vowed to only sell Trump 2020 paraphernalia that is American-made. “Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., the President’s 2020 reelection campaign committee, has proudly produced and manufactured all of our merchandise right here in America from day one,” claimed Glassner in a statement.
Amid his campaign in 2016, Trump labeled China as a country that robs employment opportunities from Americans and has since enforced a supremely strict trade policy. Early into 2018, he imposed a series of tariffs on foreign metals including steel and aluminum which has triggered U.S. allies to strategically retaliate causing greater chances for a trade war.
The contradiction is real yet, it is not a surprise. Trump owns a nature that is filled with ill-will for the sake of self-enrichment. Jiang’s company is not only making Trump 2020 gear, but it is the same company that produced flags for Trump and his opposing force Hilary Clinton in 2016.
