J.B. Smoove will be heading into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadline reports the comedian will be starring in Spider-Man: Far from Home. The film will be the second in the Spider-Man franchise and the fourth movie featuring the web-slinger since his debut in Captain America: Civil War.
Tom Holland will return as your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man but so far the sequel has announced Smoove and Jake Gyllenhaal as new cast members. The latter of the two new stars is scheduled to be the villain Mysterio. In the director’s chair for the film is Jon Watts and a return of Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, and Michael Keaton.
J.B. Smoove will film his role in Spider-Man: Far from Home before returning to his spot on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The new Spider-Man will arrive in theaters after Avengers 4, on July 5, 2019, and will look to top it’s worldwide gross from the 2017 original of $880 million.
