The 90’s babies win again as the iconic Rugrats cartoon will be returning for a new season of 26 episodes and a live-action film. Deadline reports everyone’s favorite characters like Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, and Angelica will be returning but will also include a couple of fresh faces to the series. The original characters will be brought back to our screens by our the original creators of the show in the executive producer chair.

Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,” shared Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks and Interim President at Nickelodeon. “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

Brian Robbins, President of Paramount Players, believes this is the proper time to reintroduce the classic show to a new audience stating, “Kids who grew up with Tommy Pickles and the Rugrats crew will now be able to share that experience with their own children.”

The new Rugrats movie will have David A. Goodman in the writer’s chair and is set to be released on November 13, 2020.
