The star NFL Wide Receiver is getting a “fresh start” after his visit to Israel. Odell Beckham Jr. revealed on Instagram that during his trip to Jerusalem, the All-Pro NFL athlete got baptized amid scrutiny for alleged behaviors.
Whether or not Beckham Jr. wanted the baptism because of the scandals is unknown, but as a player who has received a lot of attention for on and off the field problems it seems as though the New York Giants superstar just wanted to get his life right by his own means.
On the field, Beckham grew a reputation as an emotional player with a bad attitude and thuggish mannerisms although athletes including New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady defended Beckham Jr. saying that he played with passion.
Beckham Jr. noticeably toned down his on-field antics since the 2015 on field war with former Carolina Panthers Cornerback Josh Norman that resulted in multiple unnecessary roughness penalties, a one-game suspension for Beckham Jr., a fine for Norman, and a new “Odell Beckham” rule that ejects any player who receives more than one unnecessary roughness penalties in a game.
Off the field, Beckham Jr.’s behavior landed him in a heap of criticism after a leaked video of number 13 in bed with a woman doing cocaine. There are also reports that the 25-year-old athlete offered to pay a woman for sex. The star player has remained silent through all of this.
Following his trip, Beckham Jr. arrived at the Giants training camp on time to get ready for the 2018 season where the Giants look to improve from their 3-13 record from last year.
Beckham Jr. missed most of the season with a fractured ankle, but looks to get back to excellence this year especially with the addition of former Penn State stud Running back Saquon Barkley who the Giants hope will draw some attention away from Beckham Jr. who has been the most dominant player on the Giants since his rookie season.
