It is not a secret that core Hip-Hop enthusiasts had a very mild reaction to Nas’ Nasir, his twelfth studio album exclusively produced by Kanye West. When the news broke that Ye was going to produce Nas next album, many were skeptical to a maximum. While West did his due diligence on the beat tip and Nas eluded his trademark elements, Nasir owns a sound contrary to the Queensbridge notable’s signature sound. Now, Nas is in the process of giving the masses the album they want and the Illmatic class act has confirmed RZA and Swizz Beatz will play a hand in production, according to Hot New Hip Hop.

Yesterday (July 26), Nas sat down with iHeartRadio LIVE and revealed he is currently in the studio working on his new album. According to the Hip-Hop legend, he has already been working on what he described as “real” songs for this project long before his joint project with Kanye. When asked by Angie Martinez about the estimated time of arrival, he insisted it will not be long due to the precedence of its curation and half of the album is already done. He went on to reveal he already has something done with RZA and Swizz Beatz and affirmed his love for the Wu-Tang Clan. “I did something with Swizz, I did something with RZA, I’m a huge Wu-Tang fan,” says Nas.

Well, a RZA and Swizz Beatz involvement sounds more fitting to the Nasty Nas style persona. Classic Hip-Hop emcees have been on a role over the past two years when it comes to the broader Hip-Hop audience. Last year, over ten class acts have released projects most notably Jay-Z with 4:44. The trend trickled down into 2018 with  Royce Da 5’9’s Book of Ryan, Jay-Z (again) and his joint album with Beyoncé Everything Is Love, Lil’ Kim’s single with Fabolous “Spicy,” and in addition to many more, Nasir. Hip-Hop enthusiasts will most likely not have any issues with Nas doing a double drop in 2018.
