The battle rap world can collectively breathe a sign of relief as news about URL superstar, Tsu Surf recovery from his recent shooting trickles in.
Sources say that he is doing better and recuperating; adding that he is need of much rest. Surf is currently receiving only close friends and family. His Gun Titles partner Tay Roc let fans know in a recent IG post that he was one of the few able to check The Wave.
On Wednesday night, the rapper was shot four times in Newark. By the morning, the news had reached everyone in the battle rap industry and beyond.
Notoriously affiliated with the Crip gang Rolling 60’s in Newark, Surf rocks blue and claims “Neighborhood” at almost every battle . Whether or not his gang affiliation had something to do with the shooting is unknown. No suspects have been identified in the shooting.
This comes unexpectedly after he cancelled his Summer Madness 7 battle against Iron Solomon next month in Las Vegas. This SMACK URL tentpole event is sold out and this match up proved to be one of the most highly anticipated. His reason for backing out was personal and allegedly related to his parole. Fans were not buying it, claiming that he did not love the culture as much (some even implying he was afraid to battle Solomon). Surf took to social media to challenged fans to look at his commitment to battle rap and reassess who he is to what is now a burgeoning industry: Devoted.
