Ever since designer Yohji Yamamoto and adidas came together to form the wildly popular Y-3 sub-label, sportswear fans with an appreciation for high fashion have been getting fire drops season after season. The major standouts for each collection are always the footwear options, and this time we’re getting a whole new silhouette with the debut of the Kaiwa.
After previews, pre-orders, and a handful of first looks, the Kaiwa is finally hitting retailers this week. Although the shoe utilizes a clean black and white colorway, Yohji’s latest concoction is anything but basic. The futuristic high-top construction gives the silhouette its initial flavor, but your eye really goes to the Yamamoto-branded midfoot side panels, which take Nike’s signature Air bubble design to another level. Overall, we’re really looking at the future of footwear fashion here.
