The rapper woke up in good spirits saying, “Waking up is so exciting regardless of how I feel when I wake up.” The SMACK/URL top tier rapper also alluded to having been shot five times in his hometown of Newark, New Jersey. Following the July 26 shooting, the Ultimate Rap League community sent prayers and well wishes to Surf on social media wishing him a speedy recovery. “Now that you know I’m alive you could stop acting like you f— wit me,” Surf posted on his Instagram story. “Violence is tooo easy… and tooo fast of a response. You flex on em! Every chance u get Make em Watch cause u knooooo they lookin,” Surf said on IG. Prior to these posts, the Rolling 60’s Crip gang affiliated lyricist posted a video taken from another friend’s phone. The video shows Surf on FaceTime with another friend as they celebrating him surviving the shooting. “N—as is hard to kill on my block,” the man holding the phone is heard saying. Surf, laying in the hospital bed, is all smiles. The video was also posted by osbsmoke on Instagram. No arrests have yet been made in regard to the shooting.
