Juelz Santana is looking to lighten the burden of his legal issues from bringing a gun into an airport by continuing negotiations on his plea deal. Billboard reports the trial was slated to begin in early September but has been pushed back to at least September 30 in efforts to work toward a deal.

Court documents state the rescheduling of the trial is “to permit defense counsel the reasonable time necessary for effective preparation in this matter and to allow the parties to enter into plea negotiations.”

Back in March, Santana deserted a carry on bag containing a gun and unprescribed pills in a carry-on bag as it passed through airport security at Newark Liberty International Airport. The charges for Santana included possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon on an aircraft, both of which he plead not guilty to. Santana turned himself in three days after he left the security area of the airport.

Recently Juelz Santana was provided a break from his court-mandated house arrest. Back in June he was granted permission to travel but must do so with the company of his mother.
