After an impressive preseason with the New York Jets, Teddy Bridgewater has been traded to the New Orleans Saints. After missing two seasons with the Vikings following a torn ACL, Bridgewater signed with the New York Jets this offseason chasing a starting job. The struggling Jets franchise also drafted former USC Quarterback Sam Darnold who was announced as the Week 1 starter following the Bridgewater trade.

In his first two preseason games with New York, Bridgewater completed 73 percent of his passes for two touchdowns and 316 yards. After his preseason performances, the former first-round pick was looked at as a potential starter with the Jets, and as a trade waiting to happen with other franchises.

The former Minnesota Viking ultimately landed in New Orleans in exchange for a 2019 third round draft pick. The 25-year-old will backup future Hall of Fame QB Drew Brees and will hopefully soak in that All-Pro level knowledge as he continues his NFL career. The 39-year-old Super Bowl winning QB recently signed a 2-year $50 million deal with the Saints which locks him in until 2020.

As for the Jets, Darnold will take the helm against the Detroit Lions in Week 1. Josh McCown who started for the Jets last year will serve as his backup. Darnold has shown poise, and accuracy so far in the preseason which prompted Head Coach Todd Bowles to start the 21-year-old.
