Geoffrey Owens, former star of The Cosby Show, has been the hottest name in Hollywood this past week. It all stemmed from someone attempting to shame him for working in a grocery store and led to support from fellow celebs and fans, a $25,000 offering from Nicki Minaj and more. Now Owens has a new job, as a cast member on Tyler Perry’s drama series The Haves and the Have Nots.

TMZ reports Tyler Perry will bring him on for the high-rated series that is now entering its 6th season. A source stated Owens will be featured in 10 episodes and will be heading to Atlanta next week to start filming. There are no current details on what his role will be but with the creative mind of Tyler Perry, anything is possible.

Earlier in the week, Owens shared with Good Morning America that he had received a few acting offers since his story went viral and would be examining them. The offer from Tyler Perry comes not too long after the famed moviemaker extended an offer on Twitter: “I’m about to start shooting OWN’s number one drama next week! Come join us!!!” Mr. Perry was a man of his word. Congrats to Geoffrey Owens, we are looking forward to seeing you back on our screen.
