According to TMZ on Friday (Sept. 7) Miller was found unresponsive at his San Fernando Valley home after authorities were alerted by a male who placed a 911 call, presumably from Mac’s home. When medic arrived Miller was pronounced dead on the scene.

Miller who was set to go on tour later this month has had ongoing issues with substance abuse. In May, the Swimming rapper wrecked his car after hitting a utility pole. At the scene, Mac was arrested for DUI and hit and run. He fled the scene but cops say he later confessed at his home after he blew 2 times the legal limit.

After taking some time off, Miller had seemed to be on the road to recovery after dropping his therapeutic album Swimming last month and his soul transcending Tiny Desk performance on NPR with Thundercat.

In early August, Miller had taken to Instagram in a since-deleted post to assure fans that he was “okay” in regards to his mental state and was looking forward to touring.

“I HAVE LITERALLY NEVER BEEN MORE OKAY.”

Thursday night Mac posted a video of a record player with the song “So It Goes” playing from his latest album Swimming.

Mac Miller was 26 years old.
