Peruto sat down for an interview for an Amazon and Roc Nation-produced documentary. Toward the end of the sit-down, the journalist asked if they can go off the record and said the cameras would turn off. Though the camera was turned to the wall the audio was still on recording the conversation. In the leaked clip, the attorney can be heard saying, “That was hard to do, because defending this judge is now becoming (inaudible). Why doesn’t she just grant this fucking thing?” referring to a new trial for Meek. “Prosecution and defense agree—goodbye. She looks fucking awful,” he adds, reportedly referring to Judge Genece Brinkley.

Peruto is insisting that the audio was edited to make him look terrible, as he says they forgot the part where he says Brinkley took after the letter of the law. Since the cameraman was contracted by Roc Nation and Amazon, Peruto trusts they are capable. It’s uncertain if the lawyer has found who released the sound yet.
