JAY-Z and Emory Jones, photographed as they prepared for the annual City of Hope Gala in Santa Monica by Lenny “KodakLens” Santiago on Thursday evening. “No jewels in this Patek Philippe, it’s complicated, three million apiece; sheesh, that’s how we do time…” Hov is wearing a 2017 Patek Philippe “Grandmaster Chime Reference 6300G” reversible timepiece that comes with a $3 million price tag. One of the most complicated timepieces ever produced, it is known as the world’s greatest mechanical strikework marvel. The Roc Nation family is currently in the city’s Barker Hanger to watch the rap mogul present the medical center’s “Spirit Of Life Award” to his longtime friend “Big Jon” Platt. The award is the highest honor that the leading cancer research and treatment center bestows to recognize a philanthropic leader in music, film or entertainment. This year’s award will be presented to Platt, who is the Chairman and CEO of Warner/Chappell Music. Platt serves as a board member of the Songwriters’ Hall Of Fame, the Living Legends Foundation, and the Motown Museum; and has launched a scholarship program which awards scholarships to high school students from his hometown. Platt has been the longtime publishing agent for Shawn Carter, entering the role during the release period of Reasonable Doubt when he helped Jaÿ signed with EMI Publishing. At the time Platt had just created a system in which producers foot the entire bill for samples they use in his clients’ work—the traditional model had the producer and songwriter both share the licensing expense. When Jon left EMI in June 2012, he began to work overtime to bring Jay over to Warner/Chappell with him. In February 2013 they finalized a deal that meant W/C would administer the copyrights of both his own songs and those on the music publishing roster of Roc Nation. #JAYZ @vegas_jones @kodaklens
