A rough stretch for Warriors forward Kevin Durant got worse Tuesday afternoon when the NBA fined him $25,000 for “directing inappropriate language toward a fan” in Saturday night’s loss to Dallas.
The incident occurred with 1:01 remaining in the first quarter of the Warriors’ 112-109 loss to the Mavericks on Saturday night, when Durant approached the heckler seated on the baseline and told them point blank, “Watch the fucking game and shut the fuck up.” It’s unknown what was said to KD that provoked his harsh response.
Durant has shot 3-for-21 from three-point range over the past five games, a stretch in which Golden State has gone 1-4. In that three-point loss Saturday in Dallas, Durant missed multiple key shots down the stretch.
On top of that, two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry has not played since November 8 due to a strained groin and he did not travel on the team’s recent Texas road trip. According to the Warriors’ press release, he is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Saturday, November 24.
The Warriors are in the midst of their worst stretch in the last four years. Dysfunction and drama could bring the team together in the long run. It could also blow up the Warrior’s dynasty. Only time will tell on which one will happen.
