Comedic writer and actress Natasha Rothwell has been making her mark in the industry as a major player behind the scenes. She was a writer for Saturday Night Live for one season, 2013-2014, and wrote for and starred in Netflix Presents: The Characters. Now she is continuing the hot streak of Black women winning in T.V. and film. Rothwell has signed a new, overall deal with HBO. Rothwell will develop her own project. According to the terms of the deal, she will be the writer, producer, and the star. Now that’s #BlackGirlsMagic at work.

After leaving Saturday Night Live, Rothwell became a series regular and supervising producer on the network’s Issa Rae’s Peabody Award-winning hit HBO series, Insecure. Playing the role of Kelli, Rothwell’s fame and creative genius was front and center on the prime-time show.

Rothwell is having a breakthrough in career, to say the least. She made an appearance in this year’s YA film Love Simon. She also landed a major role alongside Gal Gadot in the highly anticipated Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to the box office smash Wonder Woman. She also is set to co-star with Tika Sumpter in the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog and Tiffany Haddish in Limited Partners.
