With all the recent “King Of R&B” talk ignited by new school singer Jacquees this week, everyone is taking sides on their undisputed crooner of the crown. People from the ’80s are claiming Bobby Brown, ’90s heads are rallying behind R. Kelly — once deserving, not so much now given his decade of controversies — and even newer guys like Daniel Caesar are being thrown into the conversation. However, one man that predates all the aforementioned artists is soul pioneer Marvin Gaye, and it looks like Supreme is locking him in as their official vote by the looks of this new capsule collection, dedicated to his most celebrated record and a certified R&B classic.

At the center of this tribute to the legendary musician is his 11th studio album, What’s Going On — an album that’s universally recognized as the best of its era and arguably the genre of R&B in general. In jus 35 minutes and 38 seconds, Gaye was able to capture the true essence of what soul music represents, especially with certified bangers like “Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)” and the titular track “What’s Going On,” and even deep cuts like “God Is Love” and “Right On.” Supreme honors his excellence by taking the classic album cover and throwing it on a set of tees, hoodies and a skate deck to pay homage to its own roots in skateboard culture. Along with the drop will include other graphics tees, but the Marvin Gaye ones are the clear standout and will definitely sell just as quick as the popular streetwear imprint’s signature tee series that’s previously included Sade and Michael Jackson.

Expect the Supreme x Marvin Gaye What’s Going On capsule collection to drop online at in the Manhattan, Brooklyn, LA, London and Paris stores this Thursday (December 13), with a later drop in Japan on Saturday (December 15). See the full set below:
