Former first lady Michelle Obama closes out the year with another big accomplishment. Proving her immense popularity, it was reported that Michelle Obama was voted as the woman most admired by Americans this year. According to the Gallup poll, as she assumed the top spot in the poll, she replaces former Senator Hillary Clinton from the number on the list for the first time in 17 years. Oprah Winfrey was second, followed by Clinton, and the current First Lady Melania Trump is next.
With the release of her new book Becoming that sold almost one million books in the first week, Michele Obama has solidified her place as an iconic figure across the globe. Her sold-out book tours have packed stadiums throughout the country with celebrities interviewing her in front of thousands of people.
Other women who round out the top ten list were Queen Elizabeth, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, human rights activist Malala Yousafzai and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
On the men’s side, former President Obama took the title of most admired with 19 percent of the vote. Nearly 13 percent picked President Trump.
