With the legalization of cannabis spreading across the country, the market is opening up for weed enthusiasts to transform their love of the green leaf into big business. The cannabis business is proving to be a great opportunity for African Americans (especially Black women), according to marketing expert Dasheeda Dawson.

Dasheeda Dawson, a graduate of Princeton University and Rutgers Business School, a former corporate marketing executive turned cannabis innovator, is making a name for herself in the cannabis business. On New Year’s Eve, she will make history as the head of the first ever African American cannabis company to be featured in a Times Square promotional campaign. The timing couldn’t be better after Governor Andrew Cuomo’s announcement to prioritize adult-use cannabis legalization in New York State for the New Year and Mayor Bill de Blasio endorsing the idea in New York City.

According to the Weed Head, Dasheeda and her brand will appear in a 15 second digital billboard promotion highlighting the book, and as part of larger collective initiative helmed by Honeysuckle Magazine, a nationally distributed print and digital publication celebrating audacious women and bringing counterculture to the masses.

“New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration and ushering in a fresh start and perspective,” Dawson said in a statement. “It’s a time for entrepreneurs and businesses to reassess their goals and objectives. We’re thrilled to showcase our workbook at Times Square, the world’s most iconic New Year’s Eve location”
