The Chinese New Year, scheduled to begin on February 5, is being jumpstarted a whole month early by Nike with a new collection of kicks in celebration of the forthcoming Year of the Pig. While a handful of popular silhouettes from the Swoosh vault are being included in this set, it’s safe to say the Air Max 95 will be the one that turns heads for sure.
Off the rip, the pony hair upper is an immediate eye-grabber that will bring to mind those black pigs seen mostly in Great Britain. However, that’s not the only appealing feature that comes with this colorway; speckled laces, a vibrant red midsole and gold accents throughout on the eyelets, ankle Swoosh and branding on the tongue in traditional Chinese characters are all key specs as well. The three-shot color combo of black, gold and red is both consistent and balanced out with good precision overall, which shouldn’t be hard to match up with your SS19 wardrobe. Given that the Pig’s characteristics are built around leisure and saving the best for last, this is one release that will definitely sync with a lot of sneakerhead personalities out there.
