With the nostalgia of 90’s culture at an all-time high, it was announced that a reboot, executive produced by Lena Waithe and Halle Berry, will make its debut on BET on February. The premise of the series is that comedy follows the lives of the children of the original cast as they seek to navigate being young, Black professionals in Atlanta while encountering their own personal struggles as millennials in the marketing sector.

Lena Waithe explains how the reboot will be different from the original:

“It’s a new take on Boomerang, something fresh for this generation. I just think people are going to be blown away by it,” Waithe said. “They are going to go ‘Huh, that’s interesting’ and ‘That’s unexpected.”

Waithe continued, “We all got in a room every day and talked about…what these characters wanted and what their traumas were.”

Boomerang premieres February 12 on BET, starring Tequan Richmond, Tetona Jackson, Leland Marti, and Lala Milan.
