The comedy Janky Promoters has enjoyed a cult-like following. The film starring Ice Cube and Mike Epps as two shady concert promoters who get into all kinds of craziness when they attempt to book a huge rap star (Young Jeezy) to their town for a concert. The film even features a young Tiffany Haddish. But if you wondered why the film never got a theoretical release, Ice Cube dropped a bombshell on Twitter. He claims that the film was leaked by disgraced executive Harvey Weinstein without his consent.

When a fan expressed how they thought Janky Promoters was an underrated comedy, Cube said, “This movie is bitter-sweet for me. We never had a chance to finish or promote Janky Promoters,” he tweeted. “Harvey Weinstein and his brother put this movie out on DVD behind our backs before we could finish the film. They actually had editors finish the movie in secret.” Cube ended his tweet with the hashtag #JankyStudioHeads.

Cube went on to say, “Search for the directors cut. My attempt to salvage the movie… Its much better to me. Very underground. Not released in too many places.”

Back in 2010, Cube spoke to the A.V. Club about Weinstein going behind his back. He said, “The Weinsteins f–ked me. [Laughs.] Yeah, basically, they f–ked me. They was runnin’ through financial problems, so they couldn’t put the movie out on wide release. And they told us we could sell the movie to another company, give them their money back—I had money tied in that movie—and then release it wide,” Cube explained. “While we were making the deal over here, they put it out on DVD over there. And I found out because somebody told me, I just got the DVD for ‘Janky Promoters’. I went through the roof.”
