The worlds of streetwear and skateboarding pretty much go hand-in-hand, especially with the widespread success of brands like Supreme and Palace. However, those two aren’t the only ones killing it for the style fiends with an equal obsession for ollies and kickflips — Kristian Kosta’s brand Felt and Anwar Carrots’ namesake label Carrots stand as primary examples. For Spring 2019, both imprints come together for a capsule collection that highlights a respective appreciation for Florida A&M University and the Sunshine State overall.

Anwar and Kristian met back in 2013, but it was only until now that they decided to merge for the sake of making fly apparel that both sides have been crafting up individually for a minute now. The set features T-Shirts with FAMU-inspired graphic prints and colorways, along with a long-sleeve shirt that merges the best qualities from both sides of the collab. We got a chance to briefly chop it up with Kristian to get an idea of where the inspiration came from, aside from being homies in the streetwear game. Here’s what he had to say exclusively to The Source:

“Anwar and I [were inspired by] common themes we both shared in life somewhat. [The collaboration originated] from re-working an old FAMU logo, ’cause his mom graduated from there and it’s somewhat around where I grew up in Florida. Aside from that, a lot of the collaboration was a fusion of staple Felt and Carrot designs — necessary and to the point. Anwar is someone who I knew I would work together with since we first met. Things just happened when things needed to happen. [This set is] just part one of 3 collaborations we have planned.”

Whether you own a skate deck or not, this is one collab that anyone who just loves fresh gear will appreciate. Given that there’s two more portions of the capsule arriving in the near future, we can only hope the design story develops into one cohesively cool style offering for the streets to enjoy.

The Felt x Carrots capsule collection, which retails for a price range of $42-$128, will drop exclusively in-store and online over at FREAKS Japan. Get a better look with the lookbook images below:
