LaVar Ball Doesn’t Want to See His Son Lonzo Ball Traded to Pelicans, Prefers Phoenix Jason Cordner February 5, 2019 Source Sports | News, Highlights and Interviews If the Los Angeles Lakers can pull off a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, LaVar Ball has a preferred destination in mind for his son, Lonzo Ball. “We want to be in L.A.,” LaVar told ESPN. “But if he’s traded, I don’t want Lonzo in New Orleans. Phoenix is the best fit for him. And I am going to speak it into existence.” Ball is currently out with an ankle sprain but has been linked in trade rumors as of late. Los Angeles is targeting Anthony Davis and has reportedly offered multiple young players, like Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, and others, in deals to acquire the star center. Ball is averaging 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 2018-19. If Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka decide that Lonzo is going to New Orleans, LaVar better start figuring out when Mardi Gras starts. The Suns have been linked as a potential third team in a Lakers trade for Davis, but outside of that, the Lakers aren’t going to operate with LaVar’s wishes in mind. While Ball would probably be the No. 1 option at the point anywhere he goes, Phoenix would offer one of the easiest paths to the starting rotation.
