Directed by multi-platinum producer Jonathan Hay and inspired by Quentin Tarantino, Mister Gibson’s Neighborhood is a short film about a real-life home invasion that Hay experienced with his 14-year-old daughter. The composite reenactment incorporates eccentric visuals, combining three different dream sequences into a modern Warholesque piece. Rising artist Ranna Royce stars in this short film and proves that she is a natural-born entertainer, in addition to hitting the Billboard Charts multiple times in different musical genres.

Mister Gibson’s Neighborhood combines verses from Sadat-X (from the legendary hip-hop group Brand Nubian) and viral sensation Slim Jesus, who also makes a cameo in the film. The protagonist of the story is Mister Gibson, a convicted felon and certified villain in a wheelchair, who has been indicted for the violent kidnapping and robbery against Hay and his daughter. Although Gibson and Hay used to be close friends, this ended when Hay caught his ex-fiancé of nine years giving Gibson fellatio in his wheelchair. As Hay and Gibson were once neighbors, the title of this video is only right- Mister Gibson’s Neighborhood.

Ranna Royce is seen as the host in this wild, lucid dream. Her intimate portrayal is both mysterious and surreal. Royce is introduced bound and duct-taped, but ultimately wins the fight by rebelling against Mister Gibson and the symbolic forces at play. Royce’s dramatic performance art piece draws strength and creative inspiration from the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, who was also from Mister Gibson’s Neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky. Mister Gibson’s Neighborhood is part of the forthcoming album Jail Tattoos: The Revisitation featuring Juicy J, Yung Bleu, and Nelly’s new recording artist T-Rell. The short film is also a prologue of the dark comedy album Chip On My Shoulder set to release this year.
