This past weekend Playbook Media Group co-founder, celebrity publicist Marie Driven hosted the 4th annual Driven Women Awards. As an entrepreneur and a woman of color in the entertainment industry, she has made it her mission to highlight and empower all women. As is tradition Marie chose to honor ten phenomenal women breaking barriers and doing exceptionally well in their respective careers.
This year’s recipients who were recognized by the Driven Awards include Dr. Bobbi Peterson(Celeb Orthodontist), Bianca Gracie(Associate Editor, Billboard), Camille Lily(Digital Producer/Editor PAPER Magazine), Abiola Abrahams(Author/ESSENCE Columnist), Paley Martin(Artist Relations & On-Air Personality), Patricia Robinson(Esteemed Speaker/Advocate), Djenane Bartholomew(CEO at FOREVER IUVENIS), Taryn Finley(editor at HuffPost, Black Voices), Ingrid P. Lewis Martin(Senior Advisor to Brooklyn Borough President) and Christal Young Fashion(News Correspondent FOX5).
This year the event took place at new spot called Savvy Bistro & Bar, a black-owned Caribbean cuisine restaurant nestled on the corner of Nostrand Avenue and St. Marks Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Attendees were also treated to a delectable Caribbean cuisine by Chef Omar Loney from Jamaica. Thanks to Marie and her dedicated Playbook MG team, honorees accepted their awards and took brief interviews with the local press after brunch.
