The New York City-based jazz/hip hop band, collectively known as QNA, have officially announced Alix Goffic as their musical director. The first release under this new partnership comes in the form of “Calvin’s Got A Job,” which showcases Goffic’s expertise as both a musical director and a drummer. The single is a complete departure from QNA’s previous work, mostly due to Alix’s unique style and musicality. A Master’s graduate of the esteemed Berklee College of Music, Goffic has studied under jazz luminaries such as Grammy winners Danillo Perez, George Garzone, and John Pattitucci.

Blending his formal jazz training with a background in Caribbean music and his Hip Hop production, Alix’s musical makeup is very unique in comparison to his peers. Now spearheading QNA’s musical direction, the seamless fusion between American, Afro-Caribbean, and European music traditions encompasses the band’s eclectic new sound. Alix’s drumming on “Calvin’s Got A Jo,” which is equally influenced by trap drum programming as it is jazz drumming, showcases this new sound perfectly. A style they have dubbed “Hip Hop Fusion.” Check out “Calvin’s Got A Job” below.
