As reported by TMZ, Shamael Lataillade claims her managers at a Moschino store in West Hollywood utilized a racist codename for Black customers who they felt couldn’t afford anything in the store. “She says the woman would call them a ‘Serena’ and instructed other employees to follow and watch them closely — sometimes even writing down their license plates,” the tabloid reports.

This lawsuit depicts the dangers of shopping while Black, and the racism that Serena Williams faces even while being the greatest athlete in the world.
