After the loss of her daughter to suicide back in May of 2018, Princess O’Garro, best known for her leading role on Tidal’s hit web series Money & Violence, will be curating a suicide prevention/mental health awareness event titled ‘Lean On Me’. The event will be held at the East Harlem Neighborhood Health Action Center in Manhattan, NY.

On February 9th from 1pm-4pm, Invitee New York State Senator Brian Benjamin, Community Leader Eddie Gibbs, Maria Cruz, Manager of East Harlem’s Taino Towers, Gabrielle Shapiro, M.D. DFAACAP, DFAPA Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at NYC’s Mount Sinai Hospital and Purity Baldwin, Founder of Precise Center Of Hope, are joining together to discuss what the City and State of New York is doing to prevent suicide in children, teenagers, adults, and the LGBTQ community.

Other talking points that will be addressed will include, stigma, bullying, access to mental health programs, lack of emotional support, the dangers of negative coping mechanisms such as abusing drugs and alcohol, and lastly self-identity issues and how it affects the mental state.
