Never one afraid to invest, ATL rap legend T.I. launches an investment syndicate for startup technology businesses.
T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, along with his longtime business partner Jason Geter, decided to create a collective that can gather resources and create technology that is driven byt the culture and for the culture.
“Tip and I actually made our first tech investment about 13 years ago. After the company went under, I initially had a bad taste in my mouth about continuing to invest in tech until I realized that rather than feel defeated, I needed to truly regroup and devote time to learning far more about the space,” Geter said in an interview with Black Enterprise.
According to a statement from BallerAlert, Tech Cypha focuses on “early growth and late-stage startup businesses; and on providing startups with capital, marketing, and branding direction through guided mentorship and various partnerships that include leveraging influencers.”
Other members of the syndicate include Killer Mike, Lil Duval, Tiny Harris, Brandon Lewis Jr., Tai Greene, Stephanie Shirley, Korey Roberson, and BJ Kerr.
One of their first investments is a digital studio based in Santa Monica called “Culture Genesis,” that created the live game show app, Trivia Mob.
“Multicultural audiences are growing, and they have a strong desire for entertainment on their mobile devices,” Culture Genesis co-founder, Cedric J. Rogers said. “We’re partnering with these two gentlemen to make sure that we hit the right notes with the technology that we are providing.”
