In anticipation of LAIKA Entertainment’s upcoming animated film Missing Link, Nike is putting a spotlight on the movie’s fantastical main character Mr. Link with a special iteration of the equally fantastic Air Max 1 sneaker.
The collaborative design is being referred to as the “Air Susan” — the name Mr. Link prefers to go by, as seen in the trailer above — and was crafted up by former animator Michael Berger alongside creator of the Air Max 1, Tinker Hatfield. The colorway directly reflects the Big Foot-inspired protagonist’s plaid suit in the film, which plays out on the heel and front portion of the mudguard. Other details, like his scarlet red fur, flesh-toned features, green vest and brown top hat, are dispersed throughout on the Swoosh, heel, midsole and tongue detailing, respectively. They were even able to make Mr. Link a pair for himself using LAIKA’s Stratasys PolyJet-based 3D printing solutions. Looking fresh, Sooz!
Look out for the Missing Link x Nike Air Max Susan by LAIKA to drop on April 9, the same week that the film starring Hugh Jackman, Zoe Saldana and Zach Galifianakis as the titular character arrives in theaters on April 12. Get a look at the shoe below:
