It may come to you as a surprise but children’s favorite aardvark, Arthur, is still on the air. The 22nd season of the show will debut with the episode “Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone,” which reveals Arthur’s longtime teacher is gay and will marry his mate.
The premiere was on Monday and found Arthur and his friends to be shocked that Mr. Ratburn has a bae at home. The show’s characters seemingly believed their teacher did not have a life outside of work.
“When they go home, they sharpen pencils, eat kale and dream up homework assignments,” Buster said in the episode. “They don’t even sleep! They just go into low-power mode and watch documentaries.”
Deadline reports the students were concerned Mr. Ratburn would be marrying an unfavorable woman, who turned out to be his sister. When Arthur, Buster and the gang get to the wedding they find that Mr. Ratburn will have a husband and enjoy the wedding ceremony.
