The Jeffersons and All in the Family are set to return to your screen for a one-night live special. ABC announces The Jeffersons will have the return of Kerry Washington to the network in the role of Helen Willis.
The tandem of shows has been dubbed Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons.’
Helen Willis was one-half of the first interracial couples tog race tv. She and her husband Tom Willis were the neighbors of George and Louise Jefferson once they hit their deluxe apartment in the sky. The original couple was played by Roxie Roker and Franklin Cover. Washington will be joined by Will Ferrell for the special.
Deadline details The Jeffersons will be played by Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes, while Woody Harrelson and Marisa Tomei will take on the role of Archie and Edith Bunker. Addition cast members include Amber Stevens West, Anthony Anderson, Jackee Harry, Stephen Tobolwsky and more.
The special will recreate original an original episode from All in the Family and one from The Jeffersons and will air on ABC on Wednesday, May 22 at 8 pm ET. The special is produced by Lear, Jimmy Kimmel, Ferrell, Brent Miller, Adam McKay, and Justin Theroux.
