Tyler the Creator has revealed the roster for the 2018 Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival. The headliners will include KIDS SEE GHOST, the collaborative project by Kanye West and Kid Cudi. The “carnival” performance will be the first time that the duo will perform live under the moniker.

There’s no telling what Kanye West has up his sleeve, but we can only hope that he actually shows up because he’s known for last minute pull outs. For instance, he canceled his third Carpool Karaoke taping as soon as James Corden arrived to his door. His rep said that he just wasn’t in it.

Other Flog Gnaw acts will include Tyler the Creator himself, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Jorja Smith, Jaden Smith, Pusha-T, A$AP Rocky, Post Malone and Earl Sweatshirt. The seventh annual Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival will take place at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium grounds on November 10 and 11. Tickets go on sale on Friday, August 17 at noon.

Be sure to check out the full lineup posted to Tyler’s IG below!

After an explosive interview with Funk Flex today, followed by a scorching-hot Twitter beef with ex-man/hype man Safaree that still might be going on at this very moment, Nicki Minaj has literally put all eyes in the rap world on the rollout of her new album, Queen. While beef and tea are always welcomed, especially around lunch time, the merch in support of the new album is worth checking out as well.

The seven-piece collection features tees, both long-sleeved and short-sleeved, and hoodies that feature album cover motifs and references to songs off the album. One in particular, not surprisingly, is dedicated to her smash hit single “Chun-Li,” featuring an animated version of Minaj dressed and ready for action like the Street Fighter II character that inspired the single. Another motif that stands out is a hoodie dedicated to her latest collaboration on the album with Future titled “Sir,” proving that this is a cool capsule set that queens and kings out there will enjoy. Well, maybe not Scaff Beezy after today!

Pick up all the pieces in Nicki Minaj’s Queen album merch capsule — including a super limited run of signed album lithos (seen above) — by heading to her official online store. Each item also comes with a digital copy of the album.

Ghostface Killah is ready to take a serious trip back to the mid-nineties. The tracklist for Ghostface Killah’s thirteenth studio album The Lost Tapes has been revealed and the 13-track project is filled with features bound to Classic Hip-Hop nostalgia.

Matt “M80” Markoff, the longtime A&R ace of Ghostface, revealed the tracklist in an exclusive take with HipHopDX. Outlined with 13 songs, the album cups an array of features from disciplined lyricists and undisputed legends Raekwon, Big Daddy Kane, Snoop Dogg, Cappadonna, Sheek Louch, E-40, KXNG Crooked, Planet Asia, and surplus more.

The album was produced by established, yet mysterious underground producer Big Ghost, who many speculate is Ghostface Killah on incognito mode. According to M80, Big Ghost certainly has his own identity that is dissociated with the legendary storyteller.

Markoff, who also serves as the album’s executive producer, says he expects the album to gratefully impress Hip-Hop heads and Wu-fans alike. The apparent goal for this project is to finally give Classic Hip-Hop enthusiasts the type of lyrical content they have been petitioning for, for nearly two decades. Based on the tracklist and title alone, The Lost Tapes manages to covet nostalgia.

“This new Ghostface and Big Ghost album is definitely something that is going to blow the minds of Wu-Tang and Hip Hop fans alike,” Markoff told HipHopDX. “Our collective goal in calling it The Lost Tapes was to bring fans back to that Ironman/Supreme Clientele/Cuban Linx era.” He continued, “We set out to revive that, update it for 2018 and just like that, we have a certified 2018 Wu-Tang banger on our hands.”

The album has started to make its rounds with the release of its first single “Saigon Velour,” featuring Snoop Dogg, E-40, and LA the Darkman.

Earlier this year, Ghostface announced he will be putting out an EP in 2018 along with “a whole bunch of new FIRE.” It looks like The Lost Tapes is that anticipated gem and the Wu-legend is on the verge of making his 2018 mark.

The Lost Tapes is set to drop on October 5. Right now, fans can pre-order the album here. The first 1,000 CDs will come with an autographed poster, an entire bonus EP, and more. Check out the track list, below.

The Lost Tapes Tracklist:

Although she had to back out of Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic Tour and her set at the ONEMusic Fest, her debut album reached another milestone that she can only be grateful about.

“I Do” featuring SZA, “Ring” featuring Kehlani, and “Drip” featuring Migos all went certified gold as per the RIAA.

Congrats @iamcardib 🏅🏅

In other Cardi related news, the Bronx native got dragged in the middle of a heated feud between DJ Self and Nicki Minaj, after the Queen of Rap alleges that Self was talking smack about Bardi behind her back. The “Bodak Yellow” didn’t respond, but it won’t be a surprise considering the rocky history between her and the Power 105.1 DJ.

Back in 2016, Dallas based artist, Tru Def, made a spontaneous yet very hopeful trip to New York City with the intent to meet Jay-Z. He landed in New York City with no particular plan of action but strong faith that his trip was not in vain.

After trying to convince the receptionist that he had a scheduled meeting with Jay-Z he was politely denied entrance and forced to reevaluate his attempt until his intuition advised him to introduce himself to a random bystander. One thing led to another and Tru Def was then directed to go around a corner and wait by the door for ten minutes. Ten minutes later Jay-Z pulled up, got out of his vehicle and extended his hand for a handshake and some words of advice. Jay-Z stated: “Keep going. Keep your head up. Put in the hard work and eventually it will come”.

Tru Def returned home to Dallas and did exactly as he was advised — nailing opening act performances for T.I., Dave East, Lupe Fiasco, Ludacris, and Bun B. Not stopping at that, Tru Def secured endorsement deals with K Swiss, Monster Headphones, Tanqueray and Microsoft, as well as featuring in a Bud Light commercial alongside Snoop Dogg and Lil Jon.

Tru Def then returned to the Roc Nation offices this past April [2018] upon the release of his most recent project, Dreams II Reality. Obviously having presented some very impressive production and original music, Tru Def has now signed a major distribution deal with Roc Nation’s newest platform, Equity Distribution.

Being able to still remain independent, Tru Def plans to give back to his city by signing artists to his newly formed label, Dream Come Tru Records in hopes to help elevate and mentor artists from his hometown of Dallas, TX.

Tru Def states, “It’s a moment I’ve been working towards since the start of my career. I’m excited to see what the future holds.”

You can stream Dreams II Reality here.

Ailing soul legend, Aretha Franklin, was in many people’s thoughts during the Detroit stop of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s On The Run II visit on Monday night.

Opening act, DJ Khaled whipped the packed crowd at Ford Field in Franklin’s hometown into a craze by playing her famous track “Regard.” Hours earlier, reports surfaced saying the 76-year-old Queen of Soul was “gravely ill.”

Beyoncé devoted the entire show to the legend. “We cherish you and thank you,” she told the gathering of people, per the Detroit Free Press. She described Aretha Franklin’s music to be “beautiful.”

Under doctor’s orders to rest and recover, Franklin recently canceled a slew of scheduled shows. The news of her worsened conditioned sparked an outpour of love amongst the Hip Hop and R&B community.

For fans of the old Kanye West, a recently uncovered freestyle from the “Violent Crimes” rapper highlights him rapping more like the Freshman Adjustment Yeezy, rather than the Ye rapper of today.

The recording, which is apparently from Sept. 22, 2000, was recorded at Kanye’s Chicago home studio and highlights the Windy City rhymer conveying some hard-hitting bars. “Ya n*ggas follow Kanye like a hip-hop cult/This ain’t Tool Time get off my nuts and bolts/And everything I spit is like a f*ckin’ quote/Man, sometimes I can’t believe the shit I wrote,” he raps.

Later in the video, Yeezy spits one of his renowned lines that he later utilized as a part of “Last Call” on The College Dropout. “I murder these niggas on that lyrical shit/Mayonnaise-colored Benz I push miracle whips,” he rapped during the freestyle.

“I copped a new set of rims, nubuck Timmies/I wear a size 12, my car wear 20s/Momma, why they won’t just let me live my life? Let me rock my ice?/Just admit that I spit that nice/When I drop that flow, fuckin’ with Kanye to the is Mission Impossible,” ‘Ye continues.

While fans may never recover the old Kanye West, there could be some new music from the maker in progress. In July, Chance The Rapper announced that he and fellow Chicago native Yeezy were chipping away at new music for a forthcoming project.

Look at Kanye’s 2000 freestyle below for your daily dose of nostalgia:

Nicki Minaj is busy doing press runs for her latest album Queen, which dropped last Friday, but she had a couple minutes to drag DJ Self. On Monday, before Chun-Li’s appearance on Stephen Colbert late night show, she stopped by Clue Radio at Power 105.1 and things went left. It’s unclear where DJ Self appears in the equation, but she told him the three disrespectful words that no New Yorker wants to hear.

Apparently, the current Love and Hip Hop: New York reality star tried to speak badly about Cardi B to Nicki Minaj, hoping that’ll amuse the Queens native but his plan backfired. Additionally, in a since-deleted Instagram post, Self began dissing the “Barbie Dreams” rapper, saying that Bardi had the best female album this year. After that, Minaj went OFF! She claims the real reason why he’s upset is that not only did he not get an exclusive interview, but he didn’t even get acknowledged or a drop for his show.

With everything taken into account, it sounds like Self got upset that Nicki played him for the drop after he was talking sh** about Cardi, so then he hopped on social media trying to be funny and started an entire war that is scheduled to continue on Queen Radio on Beats 1 Radio on Thursday. Stay tuned to hear her side of the story.

Travis Scott’s junior album secured him another No. 1, so it’s no surprise that individual tracks on ASTROWORLD are charting.

Billboard reports that “Sicko Mode” and “Stargazing” debuted at No. 4 and No. 8, respectively. Both songs amassed 55.1 million and 39 million U.S. streams. Travis joins the likes of Drake, J. Cole, and Ed Sheeran who have all had multiple songs debut in the top 10 at the same time.

Aside from all 17 tracks appearing on the chart, “Butterfly Effect” re-entered at No. 50. It previously debuted last November at No. 51.

However, Drake is holding on tight to his No. 1 spot for the fifth week with “In My Feelings” from his latest album, Scorpion.

Lil Wayne, the head of Young Money, and mentor to Drake and Nicki Minaj has weighed his opinion on his female protege’s latest discharge. He praised the Queens native for her fourth studio album, dubbing it her best work.

“First of all, I just want to congratulate the beautiful queen, Miss Nicki Minaj, for the beautiful album, Queen, which is, to date, in my opinion, one of her best albums yet,” he says to the camera.

“I’m not gonna go out there on a limb and say it’s her best album, because I can still listen to songs [from] when she was about…when she was a teenager, and I still hear vocals and lyrics from there that are, to me, the best thing she’s ever said in her life,” he continues. “So, I’m specific like that, but to date, it’s one of the best albums yet—and I don’t mean out of her catalog. I mean period.”

In the video Tunechi also gushed about her standout record, “Barbie Dreams,” which took a hilarious spin to Notorious B.I .G.’s “Dreams,” and was an upgrade to her 2007 “Dreams.”

“And The Barbie Dreams song. I love the f—-n song, everybody love the song, but I really wish the song was just, like, a dedication song to me,” he says. “I really wish that was Barbie’s dream.”

Since Drake and Nicki both released albums this year, Lil Wayne could deliver the long-awaited fifth installment to Tha Carter series to complete the Young Money trifecta. But we can only hope.

Hold up, wait a minute! You thought Nicki Minaj was finished?

The Queen of Rap released a Nas-assisted single called, “Sorry” one day after she debuted her album, Queen. After unleashing a series of teasers on Twitter, DJ Funk Flex premiered the track on Hot 97.

Shortly after her album was surprisingly released after she announced that it was delayed to be dropped one week from now to wait for the sample clearance for this record, Nas commented “QTGM.” Nicki responded, “So mad they can’t hear our song babe.”

It turns out that Shelly Thunder made a reggae cover to Tracy Chapman’s, “Baby Can I Hold You.” Thankfully everything worked out in the end because this song is a bop. Check out Nicki and Nas’ new joint, the reggae sample, and Chapman’s original.

Tweaking albums after its release has become a trend nowadays. Kanye West did it to his last two albums. Nicki Minaj also said she would roll out a few improvements to Queen directly after its discharge. When Travis Scott dropped ASTROWORLD a week ago, fans quickly noticed that Nav’s vocals on “Yosemite” were difficult to hear, unlike Gunna’s vocals, who was also featured on the track.

Scott definitely saw the memes because Nav’s vocals are noticeably louder. The change is already updated on streaming platforms, so now you won’t have to struggle to hear the Toronto artist.

“Yosemite” is the most recent collab between La Flame and Nav. The duo collaborated on Scott’s last collection Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, and they were also both featured on Nav’s “Champion” from his debut album, Reckless. The video was shot in Hawaii, when Scott gathered a super team to help him complete ASTROWORLD.

Travis Scott announced the tour for his latest album. There’s no telling if Nav will join him.

Sam Smith has worked his way into becoming a household name. He arguably has one of the best voices of this generation and has a plethora of hit singles. But his mouth just got him in trouble.

The British singer was unwinding with some friends on a boat recently. Fellow singer, Adam Lambert, was also on the boat and he was posting videos of the festivities to his Instagram account. In one video you see Smith getting down to Beyonce. But in another one, he said he didn’t like the King of Pop, Michael Jackson’s, music.

In the video, Lambert pans over to Smith who says, “I don’t like Michael Jackson, but this is a good song.” In all fairness, Smith is entitled to his own opinion but it’s not usual that you hear someone, especially a successful musician like hisself, say they don’t care for MJ. You can imagine the Internet dragged him for his comments.

There were those rational folks that did come to Sam’s defense because we are entitled to our own opinions after all.

Michael Jackson is a legend hand down. His artistry is unmatched and he’s had an undying impact on pop culture. But Sam Smith is probably not the only one who isn’t fond of MJ’s music. Others are probably too afraid to speak up. Smith also isn’t the only successful artist to diss a whole legend. It happens in the Hip Hop community everyday B.

Method Man is back with his new single that definitely shows fans why he’s considered a legend in the game.

Despite taking a hiatus to focus on his acting career, Method Man has released his new single, “Grand Prix”, to prep fans for the release of his new album, Meth Lab II: The Lithium. The single, which features Mef flexing his signature style features a refreshing twist on the beat choice he’s known for.

Serving as the first solo track he’s released in three years, “Grand Prix” showcases Tical’s ability to utilize slick wordplay over a dramatic and characteristic beat, while staying in pocket giving the listener that classic head bob.

The effortless flow and trancelike beat serve as a perfect combination as Mef delivers quotable bars that remind you exactly why he’s considered an exceptional emcee.

“I ain’t a minor teen spirit, ain’t Nirvana/ Call me Pro-Meth, it’s clear this kind of syrup ain’t Jemima/ Baby momma drama, tryna act like she Madonna/ Like a virgin but I’m certain this person a piranah”

During an interview with BillboardMethod Man addressed the disappointment with his 2015 release, that many deemed as a compilation due to only one solo song being on the project.

“People were upset,” Method Man recalls. “Every song on there had somebody else on it with the exception of one song that I did by myself.”

Mef also revealed that an old partnership helped ignite the fire to create new music.

“I can rhyme my ass off, that ain’t nothin’ new,” Mef said. “People already knew that, but they just tend to forget. Every now and then you’ve gotta remind them.”

Meth Lab II: The Lithium features Mef collaborating with former Wu-Tang affiliate Anthony “Hanz On” Messado of Hanz On Music, a partnership that almost didn’t happen according to Mef stating that he was skeptical until a cosign from Streetlife made him a believer.

“It made it fun for me again,” Mef continued.  “I should have done this a long time ago,” he admits, “but everything comes in its due time and this wasn’t my idea. It was Hanz’s project. It’s still Hanz’s project. I do music because I want to now; not because I have to.”

Listen to “Grand Prix” below.

Today marks 45 years since the birth of Hip-Hop!

In the decades since it all began on Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, the genre has went on to become the most powerful (and most lucrative!) in all of music. Of course, that feat is heavily due to the many rap pioneers who started it all those years ago, upheld it decade after decade, and continue to keep it going strong today through the current digital era.

We came together and picked 15 of the most memorable debut albums in rap for the 45th anniversary of Hip-Hop.

Let’s start from the beginning:

The Sugarhill Gang, Sugarhill Gang (Feb, 1980)

The Sugarhill Gang carved their legend as the hip-hop group credited with putting out the first successful rap record, “Rapper’s Delight,” in September 1979. The album followed soon after in February 1980, and helped spearhead the beginning of something great. While you probably could find a record that pre-dates this one with rapping on it, Sugarhill Gang brought the bars to the masses and solidified the power of the mic. No wonder why we chose a microphone as our official stamp of approval for the flyest records only.

Kurtis Blow, Kurtis Blow (Sept, 1980)

As the first rapper to sign with a major label, Kurtis Blow definitely paved the way for what’s now called “bidding wars” between labels wanting to sign the next big rap star. Spearheaded by his hit single “The Breaks,” Blow’s self-titled debut cemented his role as a rap pioneer that he began to carve out a year earlier with the 1979 single release of  “Christmas Rappin’.” We might be reaching, but he even created a lane for the rap-singers dominating the charts today with his cover of “Takin’ Care of Business.”

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, The Message (Oct, 1982)

Grandmaster Flash was and still is one of the most recognized names in the rap and DJ community. With the Furious Five by his side, including member Keef Cowboy who created the term “hip-hop,” Flash established the foundations of rap culture though innovative DJing, cutting, scratching and mixing. Their groundbreaking single “The Message” showed us how powerful these words on wax could be when the right person gets behind the mic. Grandmaster Flash was one of the firsts, and thankfully wouldn’t be the last.

Public Enemy, Yo! Bum Rush The Show (Feb, 1987)

We don’t know what’s more iconic about Public Enemy’s first album: the music or the rifle target logo that has literally become a movement on its own! With Yo! Bum Rush The Show, the group empowered a worldwide audience with their hit single “Rightstarter (Message to a Black Man)” and the first and namesake single “Public Enemy No. 1.” In short, this album gave birth to a new era of hard-hitting Hip-Hop.

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper (Mar, 1988)

Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff were the first real duo in rap to show that two can sometimes be better than one. Before Mobb Deep, Outkast, Clipse, and way before Rae Sremmurd, Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince pioneered the double take movement with He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper — the first double-disc release in Hip-Hop history. Although it wasn’t their first, this album expanded the imagination of rap by bringing it all the way to TV with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, the classic sitcom that both rapper’s starred on. With a primetime audience on their side, it was no surprise the second single off the LP, “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” took home the very first Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance.

NWA, Straight Outta Compton (Aug, 1988)

If you ever wondered where the gangsta in rap came from, give all thanks to NWA.  This groundbreaking album brought a cultural commentary that ended up changing rap forever. Dr. Dre, Arabian Prince, DJ Yella, Ice Cube, MC Ren and the dearly missed Eazy-E topped the charts together by turning their life experiences into art, providing a ground for Hip-Hop’s growth into a platform for protest. They marketed themselves as journalists basically,  reporting on the effects of poverty and gang violence, and put profanity in their lyrics to make fans listening from the outside-looking-in repeat it in ethical terms. The group had a dangerous exterior, but had a message to prove by offending the right people.

Snoop Dogg, Doggystyle (Nov, 1993)

You are looking at one of the most successful albums in the game. Doggystyle held the original title of fastest-selling Hip-Hop album with its record-breaking 806K first week sales, spearheading it into a status as one of the most pivotal albums at a time where the West Coast was really starting to shine. Uncle Snoop, we salute you fam!

Nas, Illmatic (Apr, 1994)

Nas’ debut magnum opus wasn’t even a best-seller at the time it originally released, but the influence it’s had on the game as a whole is one that can’t be denied. We were happy to help spearhead this record to greatness with The Source‘s  classic 5-mic review given to Illmatic back in 1994, and our feelings about it haven’t changed one bit. The Queens-bred king will always reign supreme.

Missy Elliott, Supa Dupa Fly (Jul, 1997)

Representing for the ladies on the mic, Missy released one of the greatest musical albums of all time. Supa Dupa Fly was an electrifying album that was feminist, innovative and inspirational all at the same time. Missy also helped curate the era of visuals, where each of her music videos brought us a cinematic appeal that was purely eclectic and innovative. Missy provides a cocky-yet-sweet approach on this record that was just powerful to witness.

50 Cent, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (Feb, 2003)

Call him a troll if you want, but 50 Cent took over the rap game in 2003 with the release of his debut album. Backed by Eminem’s Shady Records, Get Rich or Die Tryin’ brought back the era of street rap that went by the wayside for a bit during the Bad Boy “Shiny Suit” era.  His blowout hit “In Da Club” earned the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and saw platinum success tenfold. Looking back, 50 proved to be the underdog in the game that made it to the top with plenty of hits to count for. Thankfully he got rich, because our daily Instagram feeds would be lacking if the other option came to fruition.

Kanye West, The College Dropout (Feb, 2004)

Regardless of how you feel about him now, Kanye West really did release a modern-day rap classic with his 2004 debut album. College Dropout was talking about real life problems, particularly when it came to the first single “Through The Wire,” where each verse was spit through a literal wired-shut mouth. Kanye fought hard for the recognition and remaining respect he gets today, and his beginnings here remind us that, behind the current madness, there’s still a genius in there.

Kid Cudi, Man on the Moon: The End of Day (Sept, 2009)

Anyone currently get lit to Travis Scott’s Astroworld, or any of the many emo-rap stars, honestly owes a big chunk of homage to Mr. Mescudi. The sonics, the visuals, just the overall Kid Cudi swag was enough to influence the last leg of the generation to shift the sound of Hip-Hop even further to the left. Man on the Moon: The End of Day is a classic slow burner, but in the best way possible.

Kendrick Lamar, good kid, m.A.A.d city (Oct, 2012)

Kendrick Lamar’s storytelling behind this album is remarkable. He introduced us into his own Cali underworld, filled with new emcees that added a new spin on the “G-Funk bounce” that put the region on the map. This album brings to mind a short film, with powerful stories about gang violence, love, and his teenage years of being on the streets. Even now good kid, m.A.A.d city is on the charts after 300 weeks, proving once again just how wrong the Grammys got it that year. DAMN!

Chance The Rapper, Coloring Book (2016)

Technically, Chance The Rapper doesn’t even have a debut album; all of his projects to date have been  labeled as mixtapes. However, the game-changing free album Coloring Book put streaming platforms on entirely when it became the first streaming-album to be on the top charts with over 53 million streams. Add to the fact that it’s the first streaming-only album ever to win a Grammy,Coloring Book proved that Hip-Hop could not only survive in the digital era, but that it would also dominate. To this day, Coloring Book is still considered to be one of the most popular and fulfilling albums — err, mixtapes! — ever made.

Cardi B, Invasion of Privacy (2018)

The era of Cardi B — yeah, we’re calling it just that! — has been one of the most entertaining, ascending whirlwind careers to watch.  Kicked off by her five-time platinum single “Bodak Yellow” last year in April, Cardi couldn’t get people to stop anticipating and talking about her debut album. Once Invasion of Privacy finally did arrive, it was already certified gold with 500,000 copies and counting off the singles itself. Two months later, it got platinum certification by the RIAA. The “Be Careful” rapper has been setting records left and right, and who knows what she has up her sleeves next.

Who’d we miss? Sound off on your favorite debut Hip-Hop records by letting us know over on Facebook and Twitter!

Happy birthday, Hip-Hop!  Forever love…
