It goes without saying that anyone experiencing this cold front on the East Coast today — it’s 15 degrees and windy AF in New York right now! — could seriously use a warm jacket. Well, not only does Ralph Lauren have the perfect set of outwear for the occasion, but the new options are even packed with a next-level heating technology that allows the wearer to control their personal level of coziness through an app. Yeah, sign us up ASAP!



The appropriately-titled RL Heat app is applied to the Polo 11 Jacket featured here and a less-bulky Glacier Down Jacket. The way it works is via a rechargeable Mophie battery, which is located in the jacket’s inside pocket and can provide warmth for up to three hours. RL Heat allows you to not only control the amount of heat, but will also give you weather reports for proper planning when it comes to layering up. The jackets are of course styled to perfection, with the Polo 11 taking cues from 20th century Apollo space suits (seen above) with its all-white exterior and patches. The Glacier options go for more neutral tones, arriving in navy and silver color options. If you’re trying to stay fly without freezing, this is the way to go for sure.

You’ll only have to wait a few days more for the “RL Heat” wave to arrive; the Ralph Lauren Polo 11 Jacket will drop this Thursday (January 24) as a limited edition release exclusively through the Polo App in the US and on the Ralph Lauren website in Europe and China. The Glacier Down Jacket arrives on the same day as a more general release, both in-store and online.

G-SHOCK debuted the classic BABY-G watch back in 1994, giving those that liked a smaller frame and structure overall the DW-520 model. Now, after 25 years of special collaborations and more than a handful of vibrant colorways, Casio brings back the OG to celebrate the anniversary of its release.



The new BGD-525 takes cues from the original design and era it came from, complete with a translucent strap, metal screen protector on the watch dial and a ’90s-themed “BABY-G 25th Anniversary” etching on the back of the case. The color choices seem to keep with the ’94 aesthetic as well, with a mix of purple, pink and blue hues incorporated into the special packaging and watch itself — The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air logo and even the inside of “The Max” diner from Saved By The Bell definitely come to mind. Nostalgia ultra, for sure!

Rap fans won’t soon forget the memory of A$AP Mob founder Steven Rodriguez, respectfully known by his official a.k.a. A$AP Yams, especially now that Yams Day has become a sort of cultural event amongst the new age of loyal Hip-Hop listeners. For 2019, not only is his annual celebration of life back in NYC, but the show will also be accompanied by a handful of merch drops in collaboration with a few major players in the streetwear community.



The first label that will surely gain fanfare is the Champion hoodie and sweatpants set designed by Virgil Abloh’s OFF-WHITE™. Further collabs come in the form of other respectable brands, including Cactus Plant Flea Market, plus additional tribute merch in memory of rapper Fredo Santana who passed away from a fatal seizure one year ago this week (Jan 19). The Mob shows respective love for their fallen brother as well, with A$AP Illz and A$AP Twelvyy both creating collaborative pieces with their brands Disco Inferno and LYBB, respectively. R.I.P. to both of the homies, for sure.

After seeing Chinese New Year-themed footwear from the likes of Nike and adidas, it looks like Gucci is also dropping its own capsule collection to celebrate the Year of the Pig by recruiting the perfect little mascots. Three to be exact.



The 19-piece offering is highlighted by motifs of Disney’s Three Little Pigs, which come in the form of embroidered patches on a series of carry-alls, sweaters and even the brand’s signature Ace sneaker for men and women. The rest of the set is filled with other various ready-to-wear gems, including a T-Shirt, polo, watch, and crewneck. A non-Disney-related piglet graphic is incorporated as well into the knitwear offerings, which include a wool cardigan, hat, scarf, oversized tee and socks. Real-life piggly wigglys not included, unfortunately.

Everyone in the sneaker community is celebrating the Chinese New Year from a different perspective, from Pharrell’s adidas BYW collab to Nike’s special iteration of the Air Max 95. However, whether intentional or not, the Swoosh also has a pair of Air Max 97s arriving soon inspired by one of, if not the biggest mascot in Chinese culture: the panda.



The core black & white colorway is balanced out throughout with an almost vortex-like swirl pattern. Of course, that’s mainly due to the shoe’s circular construction and textured upper that gives it even more dimension. The leather mudguard is a nice way to switch up the otherwise fully-textile/mesh build, and where the two colorways were placed in conjunction to one another proves that the Nike designers over in Oregon are definitely doing things right over at the headquarters. It might be the Year of the Pig, but the panda will always be a true symbol of China — word to Desiigner!

After collaborating on a fire capsule collection alongside Gucci, Dapper Dan is still getting all his things, this time in the form of a coffee table book that details his long history in the fashion-forward neighborhood of Harlem.



Edited by famed photographer & film artist Ari Marcopoulos, Dapper Dan’s Harlem features original imagery that illustrates the NYC neighborhood and those that dwell in it. Also included in the pages are portraits of friends & fam of Gucci, in addition to those that Dapper Dan hold near and dear to his story as a Harlemite that made it to the top of the fashion world by making custom pieces — some might call it “bootlegging” — out of real high-end scraps. What originally resulted in a blackballing from those elite fashion labels has now turned into a respect for his unique vision and even more elite clientele. Some of those featured in the book may even own a “Dapper Dan exclusive” or two, including designer Trevor Andrew, Steve Stoute, Bevy Smith and famed chef Marcus Samuelsson.

Dapper Dan’s Harlem launched today at Pitti Uomo tradeshow in Florence, Italy, but a wider release is expected to drop soon via Gucci Garden in Florence and the Gucci Wooster Bookstore in New York. Scan through the pages below:

It’s no secret that Virgil Abloh has made a trailblazing name for himself on and off the runway, especially with his high-ranking role at Louis Vuitton. When Nike decided to team up with ALYX designer Matthew M. Williams for a technical series collaboration they saw new opportunities to introduce new products which combined computational design and data.

Although this may be true, the signature swoosh brand has become the target of public scrutiny in London. Many folks are accusing the company of exploiting London’s gang culture. At the center of all the controversy, rest the Nike Balaclava.

Gang violence has been a hot-button issue in the nation, especially considering earlier this year British law enforcement requested that YouTube remove at least 30 UK drill rap music videos. Although the videos did resurface elsewhere, the goal was to curtail gang violence in the region. Although authorities have made strides other crimes are on the rise and sleek and stealthy look of the Nike Balaclava has people concerned about their safety.

Londoners across the country took to Twitter to express their grievances. Some called the company out for making “gang culture” look appealing to impressionable youths. Adding to that, the headgear can be fashioned with shoulder straps which some say resembles holsters. Others made a point to scrutinize the company for using a black model for the product ad. They say a black model and the context of the product predicates racial stereotypes regarding gangs.

Nike has responded to the accusations in a statement given to The Independent. A Nike representative stated, “These products were part of a wider Nike Training collection, styled on different models and available in multiple markets around the world. This year Travis Scott has made a good case for why he could be the next style icon of this generation. While Nicki Minaj may be a little salty that selling his Astroworld merchandise has helped catapult him to the most recent No.1 album on the charts, the Jordan Brand seems to believe in his image. Maybe this is why he continues to get new Jordan products before they hit the market.

In the latest reveal of Jordans and things you don’t have, Travis was in Paris to perform at Cabaret Vert Festival. While on stage he was wearing an unreleased Paris Saint Germain Jordan basketball jersey. Keep in mind the Jordan Brand and PSG teamed up earlier this year for a collaborative PSG themed Jordan V sneaker which is an ode to the Paris Saint-Germain soccer team.

No word on a public release as of yet but industry rumors indicate the shoe may remain exclusive to team members and Jordan Brand favorites like Scott.  However, images of the sneaker have surfaced on social media over the last few months.

Nike has stood with the Germain soccer team through their many years of winning. PSG recently captured France’s Ligue 1 title for the fifth time in the last six seasons. Therefore, it is easy to see why Jordan has offered a collaborative effort.

What better way to tease people about the Jordan sneakers and apparel they can’t get than to put it on Travis Scott.

Nike is riving the playoff saga between the Chicago Bulls and the Orlando Magic. Reflecting on a time when the NBA  was arguably at its competitive height.

Competition between the eastern conference rivals was fierce and explosive. Meeting 10 times throughout the 1995 and 1996 playoffs, the Bulls earned the edge and eventually earned the championship rings. Although the Magic proved they could indeed run with the Bulls, defeating them 4-2 in the 1995 series.

However, the Bulls bullied the Magic the following year, subsequently sweeping them in the 96′ series before defeating Shawn Kemp and the Seatle Sonics in the finals.

Aside from standouts like Jordan and young Shaq, Penny Hardaway and Scottie Pippen proved to possess star qualities as well.  In fact, they tested each other as one could be called to guard the other at any given time.

Celebrating those memorable moments, Nike has decided to reimagine Pippen’s signature  Air More Uptempo and  Hardaway’s Air Max Penny 1.

Dressing both silhouettes in pinstripes, the swoosh brand must’ve appreciated the Bulls’ black and red pinstriped jersey which complemented the Magic’s blue and white pinstriped jersey.

The pinstripes reveal intricate details. Hidden within, Pippen’s Uptempo stripes spell out ‘AIR.’ In contrast,  Hardaway’s  Penny 1’s stripes which read ‘1CENT.’

Equally priced at $160 each, the “Pinstripe Pack” will release at nike.com and Nike Sportswear retailers on Saturday, August. 11.

Anyone who has experienced the energy of an HBCU, whether at a tailgate, halftime show, an event or simply walking around campus, can attest to vibe being one that is unmatched.

The one undeniable quality that is present at the HBCUs in the U.S. is the amount of style and fashion sense displayed on-campus is like no other. When walking onto an HBCU campus, be ready for a fashionable spectacle of grand proportions. One is sure to see styles and fashions that are reminiscent of the places that tell students’ life stories and are the looks that influence global fashion trends.

Southern University and A&M College alumni Amechi Ugwu understood the importance of paying homage to the fashion contributions that come out of these institutions. His solution to preserving the legacy of HBCU fashion influences led to the birth of Torch Sportswear, an apparel brand whose “vintage collection of HBCU apparel and memorabilia that represents the diverse group of institutions across the country that have educated African American students for over 100 years.”

Torch Sportswear is the first e-commerce store to exclusively sell vintage HBCU apparel and accessories. The inventory includes colorful unisex sweatshirts, bomber jackets, graphic t-shirts, baseball hats, jerseys and pullovers that proudly display the logos of illustrious institutions like Alabama State, Southern University, Spelman, North Carolina A&T, Grambling, Howard, Florida A&M and more. The product pricing ranges from $50 to $400.

Ugwu decided to launch Torch Sportswear in 2012, during his junior year at Southern University. He felt such an immense amount of pride as an HBCU student who was carrying on the legacy of black scholars who were intellectually and sartorially gifted. He was also inspired by the style of his fellow classmates strutting across campus in dope looks, especially seeing how they would rock fashion pieces with vintage finds and school paraphernalia.

Looking good and stepping out in style is something that is engrained in the DNA of African Americans. An HBCU campus definitely boasts an aura of “When you step out, you better come correct!” Shoutout to Amechi Ugwu and Torch Sportswear on such a dope movement to keep the legacy of HBCU style going!

The relationship between sports and fashion is one that has strong ties, and the influence of sports in fashion (and vice versa) is one that continues to grow.

The capsule collection features an array of t-shirts, track jackets, and oversized sweatpants, with the “Omini” logo subtly stealing the show throughout the editorial. The styling features everyday pieces and articles of clothing like denim, minimal jewelry, and cozy sneakers. The “BANDA” capsule presents a cool take on the much-loved tracksuits and separates that the Italian streetwear brand is known for.
